Interior Painters in Coventry

Freshly completed interior painting project in Coventry by Godiva Decorators

Godiva Decorators covers interior painting across Coventry and its surrounding premium suburbs, including Earlsdon, Styvechale, Kenilworth, and Royal Leamington Spa.

  • Living rooms, bedrooms, and dining rooms
  • Hallways, stairwells, and landings
  • Kitchens and bathrooms
  • Ceilings and woodwork, including cornicing, picture rails, skirting boards, and architraves

Over a decade of work on Earlsdon’s Victorian red-brick and Coventry’s post-war estates. From Albany Road terraces with original plaster and cornicing to post-war rendered semis in Finham and Cheylesmore, your decorator understands what every surface type needs before a brush goes near it.

Chapelfields Victorian and Edwardian terraces have original alkaline plaster throughout. Applying emulsion directly to untreated old plaster causes adhesion failure. Correct priming at the preparation stage determines whether the finish lasts two years or ten.

We were looking at painting our house and found Ryan, who gave us a competitive quote and did fantastic job. Great work ethic and time management was good too. Would highly recommend his service. He also managed all the clear out all the furniture and put them back in order.

Highly recommend these decorators. Ryan decorated whole house which the tenant had left in an awful state of repair including vintage denim colour in hallway and halfway up the stairs and landing presumably just to where she could reach.
The place is now like a new house.
I am immensely grateful for his expertise and dedication regarding his work.
Definitely recommend.

Interior Painting Services

Your decorator covers every room and surface type found in Coventry properties, from period lime plaster to modern plasterboard.

Living Room Painting

Living rooms in Styvechale’s Victorian and Edwardian detached properties combine bay windows, high ceilings, and original plaster. The combination of multiple angles around the bay and cornicing overhead extends preparation time considerably.

For a dedicated service, see our living room painting page.

Bedroom Painting

A well-finished bedroom with clean ceiling lines and consistent coverage reads as calm and well-maintained. Styvechale Edwardian detached bedrooms have ceilings at ten feet or above with original plaster cornicing.

See our bedroom painting page for full detail.

Hallway and Staircase Painting

Hallways in Earlsdon Victorian terraces are narrow with high ceilings, original cornicing, and plaster that has had many coats applied over a century.

See our dedicated hallway painting and staircase painting pages for more.

Bathroom Painting

Bathroom painting requires moisture-resistant finishes over correctly prepared surfaces. Earlsdon Victorian terraces have compact original bathrooms with poor natural ventilation.

Your decorator uses moisture-resistant and mould-inhibiting primers as a standard step in every bathroom.

Ceilings and Woodwork

High ceilings are a feature of Styvechale’s larger period properties. Ceiling roses and decorative cornicing in Earlsdon need precise cutting-in.

Post-war semis in Finham and Cheylesmore commonly have Artex ceilings. For the full process, see our ceiling painting page.

The Interior Painting Process

1. Site Visit and Colour Consultation

Your decorator visits the property, assesses the surfaces, and discusses the scope. Your decorator notes surface conditions, existing paint types, and any period features. What to ask at that visit is on the page about hiring a painter and decorator.

2. Preparation

Your decorator fills cracks, stabilises loose plaster, sands back rough surfaces, and applies the correct primer. Original lime plaster needs a breathable primer. Newly plastered walls need a sealing coat.

3. Paint Application

Ceilings are painted first, then walls, then woodwork. This keeps drips off finished surfaces. Each coat gets adequate drying time.

4. Period Feature Care

Cornicing, ceiling roses, picture rails, and original skirting boards are hand-cut precisely. Where original mouldings have been painted over many times, your decorator advises on options.

5. Final Walkthrough

Your decorator checks for missed spots and uneven coverage. Your decorator walks through the completed rooms with you before your decorator leaves.

Interior Painting Costs in Coventry

Prices below are estimates only. Every property is different. Call 024 7542 6652 for a precise quote.

What Drives the Price

Room size. A large reception room in a Kenilworth Victorian detached has considerably more wall and ceiling area than a bedroom.

Surface condition. Original lime plaster in Chapelfields and Earlsdon terraces requires more preparation than a smooth modern wall.

Paint quality. Trade paints are the standard. Heritage ranges such as Farrow and Ball and Little Greene cost more per litre.

Typical Ranges

  • Post-war terrace (Canley, 1940s-60s, 2-bed): £2,500 to £3,800 for a full interior repaint.
  • 1960s semi-detached (Finham, 3-bed): £3,500 to £5,500 for a full interior repaint.
  • Victorian detached (Kenilworth, 4-5 bed, period features): £6,000 to £9,000+.

Trade Insight

Earlsdon and Chapelfields properties have original alkaline plaster that must be primed before topcoat. Skipping this stage is the single most common cause of early paint failure on period Coventry interiors.
