Masonry Painters in Coventry

Godiva Decorators are masonry painters covering rendered walls, exposed brick, and stone facades across Coventry, Tile Hill, Canley, Earlsdon, and the surrounding area.
- Rendered masonry walls with crack preparation and flexible coatings
- Exposed brick and stone with breathable masonry paint
- Biological growth treatment before any coating
- Masonry primer and flexible masonry paint systems
- Garden boundary walls and outbuildings
Tile Hill’s 1950s-60s post-war rendered semis develop hairline cracks after 60-70 years. Repainting without addressing those cracks traps moisture behind the new coat. A masonry primer and flexible coating applied over correct crack preparation is the only sequence that produces a result worth paying for.

Masonry Painting Services
From post-war rendered semis to Georgian stucco, we handle every masonry type with the correct preparation and coating system.

Rendered Walls
Post-war rendered construction is the most common masonry type in Coventry. Canley, Finham, Cheylesmore, Tile Hill, and Binley all have substantial stock of 1940s-70s semis and terraces.
Render develops hairline cracks that must be filled with flexible exterior filler before painting. After filling, a masonry primer is applied, then a flexible masonry emulsion finish coat.
Exposed Brick
Exposed brick in Earlsdon, Styvechale, and Allesley period properties can be painted where the brick is sound and clean. We advise at the site visit on the implications.
We use breathable masonry paints that allow moisture in the brick to escape. Sealing brick with an impermeable coating traps moisture and accelerates deterioration.
Stone Facades
Georgian and Regency stucco render in Royal Leamington Spa and some Kenilworth period properties is lime-based. It requires breathable, lime-compatible masonry coatings.
Standard masonry paint is not compatible with lime render. We specify the correct product at the site visit.
Biological Growth Treatment
Green algae, black mould, and lichen on masonry are common on north and west-facing elevations. Painting over biological growth produces a coating that fails within one season.
We treat all biological growth with a fungicidal mould treatment before any surface preparation or painting begins.
Garden Boundary Walls
Brick and rendered garden boundary walls in Kenilworth and Styvechale benefit from treatment alongside the main house masonry. Post tops and copings absorb significant moisture.
For timber gates and fence panels on the same boundary, see our wood painting page.

Here’s How It Works
1. Site Visit and Surface Assessment
We visit and check every masonry surface. Render condition, crack patterns, biological growth, and any loose areas are all noted.
2. Biological Growth Treatment
Any algae, lichen, or mould is treated with a fungicidal wash and allowed its full dwell time before being rinsed off.
3. Crack Preparation
Hairline and structural cracks in render are filled with flexible exterior filler. Hollow or loose sections are hacked back and made good.
4. Masonry Primer
A masonry primer is applied to all bare or previously unpainted surfaces. The correct primer for the surface type is selected at the site visit.
5. Finish Coat Application
Flexible masonry emulsion is applied in two coats. High-exposure and north-facing elevations get a third coat where needed.

Masonry Painting Costs in Coventry
Prices below are estimates only. Every property is different.
What Drives the Price
Surface area is the main factor. A small post-war terrace has less masonry area than a large Kenilworth detached. Surface condition matters too — render with significant cracking or biological growth needs more preparation.
Paint system choice also affects cost. Standard masonry emulsion is economical. Specialist breathable coatings for lime render or premium waterproof systems cost more.
Typical Ranges
Masonry repaint on a Tile Hill 1950s semi with crack filling and primer: £1,600 to £2,500. Post-war terrace masonry in Canley: £900 to £1,600.
Large Victorian or Edwardian detached masonry in Kenilworth: £2,800 to £5,000+. For a complete exterior painting repaint including woodwork, see that page.
Trade Insight
Tile Hill 1950s and 60s post-war rendered semis almost universally have hairline cracking after sixty to seventy years. Every job here needs crack filling before painting.
Quoting without including this is how cheap operators produce jobs that fail within a year. Call 024 7542 6652 for a written quote.
