Hallway Painting Services
We handle every type of hallway across Coventry properties.

Hallway Walls and Ceiling
Hallways are high-traffic areas. Scuffs from bags, coats, and pushchairs mark walls quickly in standard matt emulsion. We use durable, wipeable finishes in hallways as standard.
High ceilings in Earlsdon Victorian terraces make the hallway ceiling the most prominent feature when you enter the house. A freshly painted ceiling makes the whole hallway feel renewed.
Dado Rails and Picture Rails
Many Coundon interwar and Earlsdon Victorian hallways have dado rails fitted at waist height. This is a functional feature in a high-traffic space.
We paint above and below the dado rail separately where different finishes or colours are used. Cutting precisely at the rail junction distinguishes careful work.
Staircase Walls
The staircase wall follows the angle of the stair string. Cutting in accurately along the stair angle while standing at awkward angles is a skill that improves with practice.
We cut the stair wall edge cleanly. The line follows the stair angle precisely from bottom to top.
Scuff-Resistant Finishes
Eggshell and durable emulsions in hallways last significantly longer than standard matt. They can be wiped down when marked.
We advise on the appropriate finish level for the hallway based on use. More durable finishes cost marginally more but make the job last considerably longer.
Narrow Hallway Solutions
Narrow Victorian hallways in Chapelfields and Earlsdon terraces present physical constraints. Working in a tight corridor with a high ceiling requires correct access equipment.
We work methodically in sections. No shortcuts in geometry.
We work from ceiling to skirting board in section. The process is slower in a narrow hallway but the result is correct.

Our Hallway Painting Process
1. Site Visit
We assess the hallway dimensions, surface condition, and any period features. We note cornicing, dado rails, picture rails, and stair junctions.
2. Surface Preparation
Cracks are filled, surfaces are sanded where needed, and original plaster is primed. Scuffed lower walls get more attention at the preparation stage.
3. Ceiling
The ceiling is painted first. High ceilings get platform access. Cornicing is hand-cut at the ceiling junction.
4. Walls
Walls are rolled in full coats with brush-cut edges at every junction. Dado rail junctions are hand-cut. Two full coats are standard.
5. Woodwork and Skirting Boards
Skirting boards, door frames, and architraves are painted last. Satin or eggshell for durability. Final inspection and touch-ups before leaving.

Hallway Painting Costs in Coventry
Prices below are estimates only. Every hallway is different.
What Drives the Price
Hallways cost more per square metre than other rooms because of the amount of cutting-in relative to open wall area. Multiple doors, frames, and period features all add to the hand-cut edge length.
Hallway length, period features, and surface condition are the three main price factors.
Trade Insight
Albany Road Earlsdon hallways are among the most time-intensive decorating jobs in Coventry for their floor area. Long narrow geometry, high ceilings, and original cornicing mean preparation and cutting take longer than the wall area alone suggests.

- Victorian terrace hallway (Earlsdon, Albany Road, high ceiling, cornicing): £520 to £780.
