Fence Painters in Coventry

Godiva Decorators are fence painters covering properties across Kenilworth, Styvechale, Coundon, and the surrounding area.
- Timber fence panel treatment and staining
- Close-board fencing with preservative or decorative stains
- Garden gate painting and treatment
- Combined fence and shed treatment in one visit
- Stabilising treatment on bare and weathered timber
Kenilworth’s large Victorian and Edwardian detached properties have generous plots often enclosed by long close-board fencing. Years of West Midlands rainfall leave bare or untreated softwood panels at risk of rot. A stabilising treatment before the topcoat is what makes it hold rather than peel within a year.

Fence Painting Services
We handle every type of garden fence across Coventry properties.

Timber Fence Panels
Panel fencing is the most common boundary treatment in Coventry’s post-war semis. Pressure-treated panels in Finham and Cheylesmore resist rot for years without treatment.
We check panel condition before quoting. Panels with significant rot are flagged. We treat sound panels with preservative stain and advise on replacement where panels are too far gone.
Close-Board Fencing
Close-board fencing on large-plot properties in Kenilworth and Styvechale involves considerably more timber area than standard panels. Treatment must reach into the crevices between boards.
We apply treatment with a brush into the gaps as well as the face. A roller alone misses the board edges where moisture enters.
Garden Gates
Gates take more wear than fence panels. They are opened and closed repeatedly, and the hardware causes local wear.
We treat gates as part of the fence scope. Hardware is masked where appropriate. Gate post tops and horizontal rails are treated alongside the gate face.
Fence Staining
Fence stains come in a range of colours from natural timber tones through to darker shades. Traditional medium oak and dark oak are popular across Kenilworth and Styvechale properties.
Darker stains hide weathering better between treatments.
Preservative Treatments
Bare, weathered, or previously untreated timber needs a stabilising preservative before any decorative topcoat. Applying colour stain directly to bare weathered wood produces poor penetration.
Coundon 1930s interwar semis with older untreated timber sheds and fencing regularly need this step. We include the stabilising treatment in the quote where required.
We advise on colour options at the site visit and confirm the colour before work starts.

Our Fence Painting Process
1. Site Visit and Timber Assessment
We check all fence panels, posts, and gates for condition. Rot, loose panels, and weathered areas are noted.
2. Preparation
Old loose surface treatments are wire-brushed or scraped. Bare weathered timber gets a stabilising treatment. Mould and algae are treated.
3. Application
Stain or preservative is applied by brush to ensure penetration into board edges and gaps. Fence tops and post tops get extra attention.
4. Second Coat Where Needed
Weathered or previously untreated timber typically needs two coats for full coverage. Each coat is allowed to penetrate before the second is applied.
5. Final Check
We check all panels, gates, and posts for even coverage before leaving. Missed areas and thin patches are touched up.
